De meeste mensen die aankomen op ons mooie eiland, komen met het vliegtuig en arriveren op Flamingo Airport. Zodra u het vliegveld verlaat en onderweg bent naar uw accommodatie, is de kans groot dat u de eerste echte Caribische flamingo’s al weet te spotten! Deze vogels zijn het boegbeeld van het eiland en u zult de oranje roze kleur, flamingo roze, op veel plekken op het eiland terug zien komen.

Weet u dat u onderwater op zoek kunt naar een super interessant dier genaamd ‘flamingotong’?

De flamingotong is een slakje dat goed te vinden is bij de zachte koralen.
Wist u dat:

de schelp van de flamingotong eigenlijk effen wit of geel is?
het oranje roze patroon dat u ziet eigenlijk het zachte weefsel van de slak is?
de flamingotong met die kleuren wil zeggen dat hij heel gevaarlijk is?
wanneer de flamingotong eet van het giftige koraal, dit gif door de flamingotong wordt opgeslagen zodat hij dit later zelf kan gebruiken als afweersysteem bij gevaar?

Most people who arrive at our beautiful island, arrive by plane at Flamingo Airport.
As soon as you leave the terminal and you’re on your way to your accommodation, there‘s a big chance you get to see the Caribbean flamingos that live here!
These birds are iconic to our island and you will see the bright orange pink color from the flamingo back at many places, all around the island.

Did you know that you can find a super interesting animal called ‘flamingo tongue’ underwater?

The flamingo tongue is a snail that is not too hard to find on soft corals.
Did you know:

that the shell of the flamingo tongue is actually white or yellow?
that the orange pink pattern that you see is actually the soft tissue of the snail?
that the flamingo tongue tries to tell you he’s dangerous, by using those colors?
that when the flamingo tongue feeds on the toxic corals, it stores those toxins to use to defend itself?

An even greater selection of courses and specialties!

Een nog groter aanbod cursussen en specialties! Zoals sommigen wellicht al hadden ontdekt op deze website, is er sinds kort een nog groter aanbod! Naast de PADI cursussen en specialties, bieden wij tegenwoordig ook SDI cursussen en specialties aan! Er zijn wat kleine verschillen tussen de 2 organisaties, voornamelijk in de benaming van de cursussen en specialties, maar uiteindelijk zijn de eisen die gesteld worden voor certificering uiteraard net zo streng. Of u nu kiest voor SDI of PADI, u zult net zoveel duikervaring opdoen tijdens uw cursus en dezelfde vaardigheden aanleren. Daarnaast is het handig om te weten dat u met zowel uw SDI als PADI certificeringen overal ter wereld terecht kunt. Indien u nu een PADI certificaat in uw zak heeft, maar het vervolg via SDI wilt doen, dan is dat ook mogelijk (en andersom ook). Whether you choose SDI or PADI, you will gain the same diving experience during your course and learn the same skills. In addition, it is useful to know that you can go anywhere in the world with both your SDI and PADI certifications. If you now have a PADI certificate in your pocket, but want to continue via SDI, that is also possible (and vice versa). The choice is yours!
